Murphy, Texas – January 24, 2023. All good things must come to an end. After a nearly three-year run, the City of Murphy is officially retiring the “Murphy Unites” program name. This shop local campaign was created through a partnership with the Murphy Chamber of Commerce to encourage residents to support local businesses during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. The campaign lived on as businesses reopened and became an integral part of the city’s economic development system.

Murphy Unites was a very successful program for the city, garnering multiple state-wide awards over the years from both the Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers (TAMIO) and Texas Economic Development Council (TEDC). Its unique and innovative approach captured the attention of area residents with trending social media posts and imaginative videos. That same creative approach to business retention will continue on under a new name.

On February 1st, the City of Murphy will officially transition its Murphy Unites social media channels over to “The Corridor at Murphy” name. The Corridor is the name chosen by City Council last summer to provide a unique identity to the two-mile stretch of FM 544 that runs through the center of Murphy. Multiple efforts are currently underway that will solidify the new brand identity.

“Murphy Unites more than served its purpose at encouraging Murphy residents to shop local first”, said City Manager Mike Castro. “I look forward to a entering this new chapter in the city’s efforts at business expansion and retention with a more regional approach.”
